Old Lyme Dental Associates, LLC provides comprehensive preventive dental care and restorative therapies to maximize oral health. We will take time to understand your unique needs and goals, and we'll work with you to design a treatment program that achieves the results you want. Simply put, it’s all about your smile – building it, maintaining it, and giving you a reason to share it!
Preventive Care
A healthy smile begins with proper preventive care. On your first visit, you’ll undergo a thorough dental exam. We'll check for signs of oral cancer, periodontal disease, decay, and other problems. Then we'll clean your teeth to remove plaque and tartar. If you have questions about smile care at home, just ask. Our hygienists can teach you some great tips for flossing, brushing, and maintaining good breath. Your preventive treatment plan may include:
Professional Cleanings - Regular cleanings performed by a trained hygienist will help you maintain a gleaming smile.
Fluoride - Fluoride treatments help prevent tooth decay in young children and teens.
Dental Sealants - Thin plastic coatings applied to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth protect against cavities.
Periodontal Therapy - If you have gum disease, we will remove irritating tartar from below the gum line by scaling your teeth. To remove rough areas on tooth surfaces below the gum line, we will do root planing. This procedure will deter buildup of bacteria, food particles, and plaque in the future. We may also administer Arestin antibiotics to fight infection or irrigate pockets to rinse away bacteria. Advanced periodontal disease, called periodontitis, may require treatment by a periodontist. We can refer you to a trusted colleague upon request.
Restorative Services
Your teeth work hard every day. It’s no wonder that they suffer from wear, decay, or damage. Old Lyme Dental Associates, LLC can restore your teeth to full working order and give your smile just the treatment it needs to serve you well for years to come. We offer these restorative dental procedures:
Dental Fillings - We offer tooth-colored, or composite resin, fillings. At our office, the choice is yours.
Porcelain Veneers - Veneers can transform a smile in just two visits. We will evaluate your facial symmetry, features, and skin tone, then order handcrafted veneers to place on the front of your teeth. Made of durable, stain-resistant porcelain, veneers can mask discoloration, damage, and even gaps. If you're ready for a movie-star smile, schedule a smile analysis today. Veneers could change your image in just two visits!
Crowns - A crown caps a damaged tooth and restores original shape, function, strength, and beauty. We can apply cosmetic crowns, made of porcelain or PFM (porcelain fused to metal), but traditional metal crowns are also available upon request.
Bridges - Sometimes called fixed partial dentures, bridges are artificial teeth that fill spaces left by missing teeth. We must place crowns on the two teeth that abut to the gap. These abutment teeth will anchor the bridge. Once secured, bridgework completes a smile to restore beauty and function. Don't let missing teeth ruin your image or your self-esteem. Ask us about crown and bridgework at your next visit.
Dentures - Patients missing one or more natural teeth can restore their smiles with full or partial dentures. The lab we work with creates beautiful, natural-looking dentures that fit comfortably and last for years. You deserve to smile with confidence. Ask us about dentures today.
Implant Restorations - A dental implant is an artificial tooth root surgically anchored in the jawbone, then topped with a natural-looking dental crown. This type of prosthetic offers a close imitation of natural tooth structure, and thus superior function over dentures. We can order and secure the implant restoration – or replacement crown - for patients who have implant posts. If you want implants, we'll refer you to a trusted specialist for surgical placement.
Dental Technology
Don’t let our comfortable, homelike surroundings fool you. We’ve equipped our Old Lyme office with some of the most advanced dental technology available.
Intraoral Cameras - See for yourself what’s going on inside your mouth. Our miniature intraoral cameras capture images of your teeth and gums and instantly transfer them to chairside computer monitors. This amazing tool allows us a visual aide to show you exactly where your oral problems originate and how our recommended treatments will help.
DIAGNOdent - With the DIAGNOdent cavity detection system, we can pinpoint cavities while they are small enough for conservative repaire. The DIAGNOdent technology can even detect demineralization, areas prone to future decay.
Digital X-Rays - (Waiting on more info from Jeff)
